Rowers on Cooks River (St George Rowing Club) is a small but successful Registered Club proximate to the Sydney International Airport in Wolli Creek, South Sydney. Overlooking the Cooks River, Rowers on Cooks River is experiencing an exciting period of growth due to local population changes and continuously improving facilities. 


About the Role

The Supervisor works closely with and reports directly to the Operations Manager providing support services across a number of operational areas.


Whilst the Supervisor has a broad remit, a strong aspect of this role is providing support in functions and events. The Supervisor will also provide support through their strong experience in gaming, opening and closing of venues, float management and rostering. The Supervisor will be expected to effectively use a wide range of administrative technology including electronic diaries (Outlook), rostering (Excel), functions software (Ivy), gaming systems (Ebet) and point of sale systems (Senpos).


The Supervisor is conscientious in their detail for club presentation, dress standards, service performance and ensures the same standard in frontline staff. The incumbent could be described by their peers as someone who enjoys leading a team to high standards, makes confident decisions, enjoys learning through taking direction from the Operations Manager and strives to continuously improve their performance. The incumbent should be well-known for their enthusiastic customer service which ensures all patrons leave the club talking about what a great experience they have had.   


The position of Supervisor incorporates a working schedule of rostered day, night and weekend shifts including opening and closing of the club.

1. Functions and Events

  • Success working within a functions and events team and environment including liaising with catering staff.

  • Problem solving skills in end-to-end client management in delivering functions to ensure smooth and professional delivery.


2. Workforce Development

  • Performance supervision of frontline staff and the ability to effectively coach staff to promote high productivity and service standards.

  • Ability to co‐ordinate frontline staff meal breaks and organise replacement rostering.


3. Clubhouse Business

  • Excellent skills in a wide range of administrative technology including electronic diaries, rostering, functions software, gaming systems and point of sale systems.

  • Exposure to and experience of front-of-house club operations including gaming machines, restaurant service and bar service.

  • Efficient financial understanding with the ability to report on basic financial data (e.g. percentages, variances and wastage).


4. Operations

  • Must possess a current NSW RSA & RCG competency card.

  • Ability to work days, nights or weekends as the club’s operation requires.

  • Exposure to and experience of back-of-house club operations including opening and closing, cellar and stock control, disaster and crisis procedures (e.g. fire evacuation), cash handling and basic maintenance knowledge.

  • Exposure to and experience of workplace health and safety procedures.

  • Planning and organising the including ability to organise day-to-day tasks and frontline staff.

  • Communication that contributes to effective relations between the Operations Manager, frontline staff and patrons.

Classification Level:            PFT Level 6 (approx. $46,000 + penalties + super)
