6 Awesome Tips for Attending Trade Shows

Sunday, March 22, 2015

Planning on attending a trade show this year? Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your investment away from the office.

1. Make New Friends

Conferences offer a great opportunity for making new connections. Connect, swap business cards, join groups, and #hashtag your social or business activity.

We might have a chat and there is an instant business to business solution… or not. It matters more that the connection is made.

If it's not going to work out there and then business-wise, file the lovely exchange away for future reference and move on to your next new friend.

Key words: be friendly!

2. Understand the Purpose of Networking

The goal of networking is to build relationships. Learn about us, the exhibitor. Let us learn about you. As an exhibitor, we may have the solution now... or we may have the solution in the future. Business relationships realise their value when they are needed.

The simplest way to approach networking is with 2 primary goals in mind:

Get to know people

ASK questions about their business and how they may be able to help you (even if you don’t need help right there and then).

Get them to know you

TELL them about your business and see if they can shine a light on how they may be able to help you.

3. Go to the Cocktail Events

Many people don’t relish attending networking cocktail parties. All those new people! If the adventurous spirit abandons you, you may find yourself end up speaking to the same group of safe people, which will be a lost opportunity to make new friends (see 1 and 2).

The best conversations to have are those with people who are genuinely interested in you and your business without necassarily wanting to sell.

4. Work out the Must-See List

Take ample time to learn about the exhibitors and who you must see.

Feel free to book ahead with us for the Australian Hospitality and Gaming Expo (AHG Expo). We can't tell you how much exhibitors love you reaching out. Email Shayne or Nick on expo@integratedgovernance.com.au or call on 1300 76 22 38.

5. Know the Floor Plan

Here is the floor plan for the AHG Expo on Tuesday 24 - Wednesday 25 March. Follow the green dots to where we are on Stand 111. As is the strategically located Event Café.

Once you’ve had a chat at the entry way with 4000 other people at 10am, head to Stand 13 (the Event Café) and start your Expo journey with us at Stand 111

All exhibitors are listed here: AHGEXPO

6. Be Part of the Smart Generation

Imagine taking this massive jar home for your littlies (or biggilies)! It’s the good ol’ guess the number of smarties in the jar. If you’ve sat there and counted them, get your number down FIRST. Much more family happiness than another branded water bottle!
